FAQ: What type of oil should I use in my plow?

Can I use ATF? (Automatic transmission fluid)

We don’t recommend ATF for use in our snowplows. ATF can hold moisture and can cause problems with the valves freezing and or frost build up on the pick-up screen of the pump.

We recommend using a snowplow specific fluid like our HINIKER COLD FLOW oil which meets a military spec. of 5606. It’s sold in quarts and gallons.
